Reads with understanding
- Meets state and district-level expectations on reading exams
- Reads a variety of texts (non-fiction, technical, literature) with fluency and comprehension
- Demonstrates the ability to follow written instructions
Writes with clarity
- Meets state and district-level expectations on written exams
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate through written correspondence (letter, resume, email, etc.).
- Uses a tone and style in writing that is appropriate to the audience (i.e. casual, texting, formal)
Thinks critically
- Effectively analyzes and evaluates evidence, arguments, claims and beliefs
- Asks essential clarifying questions and uses inferencing clues
- Uses an analytic or design process to draw conclusions and solve problems
Calculates with fluency
- Independently applies mathematical concepts to solve real-world problems in work and in life.
Applies scientific concepts
- Understands and practices the scientific method, or a similar design process when approaching problems or complex tasks.
